Tyson Caron

Director, Writer, Producer

Tyson Caron caught the film bug in 2002 when his short script, Eugene won the Corus Entertainment Young Film Maker’s Initiative. He worked on various film and television projects over the years, doing anything and everything, including picking up and driving Judd Hirsch one city block.

Tyson got a big break working as a production coordinator for Eagle Vision on their ground-breaking children’s television series Tipi Tales. He worked his way up and by season 3 he was a staff writer and supervising producer.  

In 2007, Tyson worked as a 1st AD to filmmaker Bruce McDonald and a unique mix of directors and creators on the series, The Rawside Of He traveled around North America, documenting musicians, drinking coffee and talking about rock n’ roll. Bruce and Tyson later collaborated on a music video for the band Die Mannequin, with Tyson producing and Bruce directing. There was a live wolf on set.

Tyson directed and wrote the feature film, Lovesick (Amazon, Roku, CBC Gem) starring Jacob Tierney with supporting leads Jessica Paré and Jay Baruchel. The film premiered at the Whistler Film Festival in 2016 where it sold out two screenings. It won the audience award at Cinequest and was the closing night film at the Richmond International Film Fest. 

Tyson directed 5 episodes of the award winning documentary series Taken about Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. He was a producer on the Shorty award winning podcast series, The Truth Sharing Podcasts and was a producer on the groundbreaking podcast version of the Taken documentary series. Tyson was a co-executive producer and second unit director on the CBC 1-hr drama series Burden of Truth (CBC, The CW, Netflix) starring Kristin Kreuk (4 seasons).

Tyson has a curious mind, and is always searching for the truth, whether on the page, or through collaborating with actors, subjects and his fellow crew members. He is committed to exploring the world and creating content that pushes the boundaries of storytelling and filmmaking. Tyson is committed to mentoring and teaching the next generation of filmmakers and helping people without the right connections get their foot in the door.
